Farming as it use to be years ago may be gone, but won’t be forgotten at the Tioga County Fair with displays and demonstrations as part of the many free events held on the fairgrounds August 7-12, 2017.
This year, the featured machines dating from 1965 and older will be homemade tractors, as well as antique garden tractors, although other makes and models are also welcome.
Those wishing to bring their equipment for the outdoor display throughout the week will receive a free weekly pass to the fairgrounds. Machines should be brought to the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 5th or Sunday, August 6th. Contact George Hilfiger at 570-659-5195 for more info on the antique farm machinery display.
On Senior Citizens Day, Tuesday, August 8th, there may be antique machine demonstrations. For more information concerning the antique farm machine demonstrations, contact Aaron Hultz at 607-425-7758.
The week begins the antique machinery theme with an Antique Tractor Pull on Sunday, August 6th at noon on the track. Tractors that are pre-1960 are welcome. The Pull is free for spectators. There is a $5 entry fee per class. Besides earning “Bragging Rights,” the first place winner this year will receive a trophy, and second and third place winners will receive ribbons.
Classes will range from 3000 to 8000 pounds, in 1000 lb increments with a weigh-in at 11:00 a.m. on August 6th. We are running a cut tire class and a non cut tire class . Max tire size is 15.5 /38. According to Aaron Hultz, organizer, there will be a transfer sled used for the pull with a 3.5 mile per hour speed limit used for the transfer sled.
